RAFY & ETHICAL AI

Frequently Asked Questions

PRIVACY & DATA USE

Q: Does Rafy use my audition videos or recordings to train AI models?
A: No. We don't even have access to them. All your audition recordings are stored locally on your device. We never collect or upload them, so there's no possibility of them being used for training by us or anyone else.
Q: Is my personal data safe with Rafy?
A: Yes. One of the reasons Rafy uses a subscription model is so you remain the customer, not your data. Unlike free tools that often monetize your personal information, we don't sell your data and we don't use it to train AI. We only store what's necessary to make Rafy work well for you.
Q: Are my auditions or videos stored online?
A: No. Your audition videos and takes are never stored on any server. They stay on your device, under your full control. We built Rafy this way from the start to protect your work and your privacy.

AI ETHICS & TRAINING

Q: Is Rafy cloning my voice or using my likeness for AI purposes?
A: No. Rafy doesn't clone your voice, recreate your image, or simulate your likeness in any form. We don't generate synthetic actors and we don't use your content to build AI models.
Q: What kind of AI is used in Rafy, then?
A: We use AI in small, focused ways that save you time. For example, to extract your lines quickly or to generate a smooth-sounding reader voice. That's it. Rafy is here to support your work, not replace it.
Q: Are my auditions or recordings being used to train future AI models?
A: No. Your auditions are not used for AI training, and since Rafy doesn't collect or store your videos or recordings, there's nothing to train from. We know how important this issue is to our community and built Rafy to protect your creative work by design.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Q: I've heard AI apps consume a lot of energy. Is Rafy eco-friendly?
A: Yes. Rafy works differently than most AI tools. It's not a chatbot. Once your script is loaded and the reader voice is generated, everything runs locally on your device using built-in speech recognition or manual timers. You can even use Rafy to record in Airplane Mode, with no data transfer happening in the background. Compared to video calls, which stream high-resolution video continuously, Rafy uses just a tiny fraction of the energy.
Q: How exactly is Rafy more eco-friendly than video calls?
A: Video calls require constant streaming, which uses a lot of bandwidth and energy. Rafy processes short bits of text and audio, mostly on your device. According to a 2022 study by Purdue, Yale, and MIT, one hour of video conferencing can emit up to 1 kg of CO2, while local tools like Rafy generate only a small fraction of that - often under 1 percent.
Q: Does Rafy offset its carbon footprint?
A: Yes. We're setting up a carbon offset program in partnership with trusted organizations in Costa Rica and the U.S. Our goal is not just to neutralize Rafy's already small footprint, but to give back through reforestation, clean energy, and ecological restoration efforts.
